I have never seen a bass so wonderfully updated as the Stingray Special. It sounds good, if not better than it always did, plus they are all quite light in weight now. This one I played today has such a usable three band eq. I don’t think it would sound bad in any style.

  2. Wow!
I am a Stingray nut, and that looks so good!
How much was that, Dr. Cheese?
    $2,500?

    It is $2,199.:)

  4. A little less than I thought, but still a little too steep right now.
    Thanks, Dr. Cheese.
    Good playing as always.

Sounds great Doc. Generally speaking, the Stingray sound is gorgeous, even with the new neodimium pickups! Of course suitable for any style of music.

I love Stingrays too, but that three band preamp really gets an incredible amount of tonal variation out of a one pickup bass.

love me some Stringrays, but I am not too sure about ‘4’ band, pretty sure it is only 3, at least it is on mine.

Love it. What's not to like.
And I really like the 3EQ. Most of the time I drop back the mid and forward the bass a little but in a few situations it's nice to push the mids for that throat-punch sound. Love Rays and that's a really nice finish.

:smug: I prefer the tone of those stainless-steel frets! :smug:
And (in all seriousness) I like the improvements to the neck-heel joint.

I love the roasted neck. Gold hardware would have been sick on this one, IMOHO.

You also know how nice a three Music Man eq can be too.

Is it lighter than a Sterling 4?
