Be better in a bass ( or guitar) than a table tho. Blacklight rective would be almost as cool. http://inhabitat.com/how-to-make-a-stunning-wooden-table-with-glow-in-the-dark-resin-infill/
Wasn't there a thread here in LC recently where somebody was planning on making a bass inspired by that table? I can't remember who, though... :/
Here's some shelves with the same idea, except with more solid wood, just filling cracks and stuff. I wonder if you could do other colors with it?
I've been off the forum for a little bit, missed it. I'm pretty sure there are other colors, maybe it just photographs that way, I remember a green glow in the dark paint, liking the blue tho.
Nice. Come to think about it, I do have some glow in the dark Fimo clay. That may work as a pore filler. It may be a bit gummy, but could be just about hard enough after baking.
Could this stuff be sanded after it dries? I'd be interested in not using it as a filler, but as an overcoat over an entire body.
If you purchase a glow-in-the-dark powder and mix it with an epoxy you should be able to coat a body, or alternatively some of the powders work well mixed in a oil based paint. I see no reason why you couldn't mix it with a poly and spray it on, though I expect you would need an overcoat of some kind to protect the initial "glow coat" from wear.
I actually really like it. Both in the light and in the dark. It's a very cool look to me. I would totally play a bass that looked like that. It almost looks like random jade inlays in the light. And in the dark it just gets freaky.
Also check these already mixed glow paints out, and these as well. The "toxic toad" comes in a rattle can and isn't terrible price wise at $24.95.
I think this is a really cool idea. For fear of repeating my thought from the last thread like this one. Someone should get a birdsong bass and get them to fill in the cracks in that local wood they use with this stuff.
That's funny. The only owner of a Birdsong that I know has a cracked guitar! I'll send him the details!
True... maybe a wakesurfer then! That way my buds on the boat can enjoy trolling with a big glow-lure!
I have some of the glowie powder which arrived earlier today. The Epoxy hasn't arrived yet. It's not as bright as I'd like, although that's a lot to do with the charging light. A 3 minute blast from my iphone flash light charges it up enough for it to be seen in daylight. This stuff isn't going to replace LED dot markers any time soon but it does make a simpler and easier to install alternative....albeit darker and needs charging.
