Price check on some EMG pickups....

    EMG-40P5 (Five String) + EMG-40J (Five String)
    + the preamp

    this setup comes from an acacia 5 string bass.

    seller wants 160...just wondering if this is a fair deal. i dont know squat about pickup prices.

    You didn't mention what kind of preamp, but that price seems reasonable. Here's EMG's price list. Obviously, these are used pickups, but it's a start.

    thanks yall, you guys rock...

    Im not sure what kind of pre amp it is...although it was from an Acacia 5, so i assume it's not junk.

    EMG's have a preamp inside the pickups, so you can run them straight to a V/V/T knob configuration. That's what it looks like you have from the picture - when you buy a set of EMG pups you generally get a prewired harness with them that you just need to solder the pups to. With the EMG J set, for example, you get a V/V/T configured harness.

    EMG do also sell additional tone circuits for active bass/treble + optional mid control.

    But they're not in the picture, so I'd say you're basically buying the pickups and harness.
