Up for sale is my pre-CBS 1962 Fender Precision Bass. I’ll do my best to give the most accurate description possible but feel free to ask and questions if I’ve missed anything. I’ve also got a bunch of detailed pics for interested parties. Contact me via pm and I’ll send them. I know there are people around here with far more knowledge about these basses so if anyone spots anything different than what I’ve described, please let me know.

This is the crown jewel from my collection.. it doesn’t get much cooler than a warhorse 62’ slab board Fender P! Just a super cool bass, very resonate unplugged, the neck feels great. It plays and sounds great too, nice and thumpy. Best of all, no ski hump!

I bought it 12 years ago from a small shop in Philadelphia. I was told it belonged to a well known player from the area. I have no idea who but they put a ton of miles on it. There’s even a few wear spots neck, body and pickguard from where they anchored their right hand. I’ve included pics of those areas. The bass is all original, including the Stackpole pots (both coded 304-6212), except for the case. It’s a nice Carvin tweed case. Weights in at 8.6lbs on my fairly accurate digital scale. As you’d expect, the pick guard has shrunk so it’s got a few cracks and breaks but all the pieces are there.

One thing to note: there’s a repaired crack on the edge the body by the output jack. It looks like it was dropped on that edge at some point. Everything is stable and the crack didn’t go all the way through the body, it stayed in the control cavity route. I’ve included pics of that area.

I’m asking $6800 shipped CONUS. Paypal is preferred. It’ll ship in a new box and I’ll do my best to pack it as bullet proof as possible. I’ve got a lot of experienced shipping vintage/rare/heavy bass gear without issue so you can be confident I’ll pack it well enough to make it safely. Trades are pretty limited but I’m open to a few things (+ cash): Fullerton era '62 RI Jazz or '57 RI Precision basses, late 80’s-late 90’s Sadowsky 4 & 5 jazz basses, Tyler basses and Barefaced bass cabs. I’m mostly interested in the Super Compact and the Two10S

Now that is a bass wearing it’s battle scars with pride and style! I just want to run my hands over it and soak up some of that history...
