1980 Alembic Series I Short Scale Bass - Stanley Clarke Body style
    · Stanley Clarke body shape
    · Mahogany body with Zebrawood facings (top and back)
    · Maple and Purpleheart neck
    · Satin Finish
    · Mother of Pearl oval fret markers
    · Ebony fingerboard
    · 30.75” (short) scale
    · Solid brass hardware (bridge and rear cavity covers have been polished to remove scratches and oxidation)
    · Chrome Schaller machine heads
    · Series 1 electronics, includes external "blue box" and 5-conductor cable
    · Rectangular hardshell case

Practically in mint condition, with the following exceptions:
    1. One very light indentation in the side of the body in the bottom end of the bass. The last 3 pictures all show the same spot. Notice that the indentation is only visible in the two pics that have the light reflecting to the camera at the exactly correct angle. It is not visible in third photo due to the camera angle. (In other words, you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it and you knew where to look.)
    2. Some finish wear on the 5-pin jack on the front of the bass.
    3. Some VERY mild wear on a few frets which indicates that someone did at least take the bass out of the case a little over these past 39 years!

The action is nice and even, and currently set fairly low but with no buzzing, which is how I like it. The neck has two truss rods, so you can dial in the relief separately on the bass side and the treble side to exactly how you like it. Between the two truss rods and the easy-to-adjust bridge, it is very easy to dial in the action to exactly how you'd like it. All electronics work perfectly. The G&G case is new or like new.

Some photos show the rear cavity covers before I had them polished by a local machine shop. Three photos show them after the polishing job, looking pretty much like new except for some very faint remnants of the belt buckle scratches, visible only on very close examination.

If your goal is to sound like Stanley Clarke, this would give you a great head start.
Then all you need is a few tens of thousands of hours of practice. :)

$4,600 OBO, shipped CONUS FedEx fully insured.
    Sorry, no trades.

Wow, the Holy Grail - and I thought it was just a legend ;)

I caught Stanley live w/Return to Forever in the late '70s - mind blowing...

Wow that sure is a great looking bass. Those older series basses sing their notes so sweetly.
