Here is a quite extraordinary Veillette for your consideration.

Visually this bass is stunning. The quilted maple top is just about the most "3-D" piece I think I have ever seen.

This instrument features a welter of upgrades:

    • 24 fretlines with deepened treble side cutaway
    • Neck carved to the Gary Willis sig bass spec
    • Pau Ferro ramp to match the neck radius
    • 16.5mm bridge spacing
    • 2 Tone Tobacco finish
    • Gloss finish topcoat upgrade
    • D-Tar pre-amp with mag and piezo pickups
    • extra light - weight is a bit under 8lbs
    • Amazing quilt maple top.

I was at Joe Veillette's shop with this bass a few of weeks ago and he said that with "that top" the new price on this bass would be between $5500 and $6000...

The bass is in superb condition. No discernible signs of wear.

Includes Veilette gig-bag in extremely good condition.

That is really stunning, and based on the specs, has great ergonomics. What are the neck and body woods?

Good questions! The body is poplar, the neck is maple. It is a very pretty bass, indeed...

I was playing this tonight and thought to myself that it weighs more than 8lbs... The weight I quoted in the original listing is from info given to me by the original owner.

So I weighed it and it comes out at 8 lbs 7.5 oz. so, about half a pound heavier than listed. My apologies for the inaccuracy. Still pretty light for a 5er...... :)

Looks like it's a bit uncomfortable without any body sculpting. How does it feel against the forearm and body while playing?

Actually feels very comfortable, mostly due to the small body size. Side to side it's only about the size of my Strat body and, end to end a few inches shorter. Very easy on the knee... I've never really even noticed any compromise with it....

I worked at Veillette for 15 years, and most likely was the one that assembled/set up this bass.
Happy to answer any questions about this one. It's a nice bass!
