    For sale:

An American made, Tewksbury bass (c. 1840) 7/8th size, flat back with a string length of 41.5" and has a perfect D neck. It has the Prescott school long, slanted f-holes connected at the eyes and open type D tuners.

It was restored in 2001-2002 by Robbie McIntosh.

The bass has a very big, deep sound bowed or plucked. The arco quality is beautiful and even all the way from bottom to the top. It plays very easily and is easy to get around on.

For the last couple decades it has been used in professional orchestras, Broadway shows (no amplifier needed), "big" bands, and jazz groups. This bass would make a great lifelong bass for a discerning professional.

    Price reduced to $33,000.

The bass is located in Brooklyn, NY. Please feel free to email me directly at lucdecker@gmail.com

  2. Dude. Last time we talked you were looking at a Juzek with an extra hole in it, and now you're selling a Yanqui? Wow!

  6. I've played that bass, she's gorgeous
  7. It's rather incredible that prices on double basses are dramatically rising yet a true Yankee bass with incredible sound and craftsmanship, not to mention mojo to die for would sit this long at such a reasonable price. This is a proud Yankee bass that hits way above most, would be an excellent all-arounder, jazz or classical section beast. In short, this is a steal.

The bass that's been at Main Drag music has very similiar machines/tuners. The instrument is not even close to the same league as this one.
  9. The Main Drag bass was made in America by a German expat luthier. Martin Sheridan’s wife restored it decades ago.
