Just read about this on Rolling Stone's site. Could be interesting, although I'm not a big Primus fan.

    Can Claypool cover the vocals?

Edit: Just found a YT clip of a primus rush cover which answered the question. No...

If the tickets aren't too pricy, I may go to the Columbus date.

  10. That actually sounds worth seeing. I'm not a huge Primus fan by any means, but their interpretations of things have been fun.

There is a clip on YT of Primus trying YYZ and Claypool seems to be having trouble with that. Hey, I'm sure Geddy can't play Tommy the Cat either. One or two songs during a Primus set would be ok, but I don't think I would pay to see them trying to be a Rush tribute band. I don't get it.

If I do go to the show, it'll be in Minneapolis, and The Sword isn't playing unfortunately. Wolfmother is playing that one, and I've never particularly cared for them.

I'd be more interested in seeing Battles open. I always liked that "People won't be people" song, and the drummer from Helmet with the really tall crash cymbal.

Of course Les’ vocals are never going to sound like Lee. But instrumentally I’m sure they’ll deliver the goods and I’ve never had a problem with Les’ vocals. I think this is gonna be pretty ultimate.

I'll definitely be hitting the San Diego show. They'll either have the songs down by then...or be sick of them. Either way, Primus + Rush = :D:D:D:D
  19. Musical genius covering musical genius out of respect, love, and the ability/opportunity to do so. Primus has had this in the works for over a year - before even they knew the severity of Neal’s situation. And Rush/Primus are pretty tight. Haters gonna hate. Why would you want Primus to sound exactly like Rush? They never will. You wouldn’t want them to. However - I can’t think of another band I’d rather see interpret Rush than Primus. Ok. Maybe Dream Theater or Porcupine Tree. But still. Let’s show some respect people.
