We're about 75% finished on our second demo, (our first sucked, we made a 10 song albulm that the band outgrew in a few months, so were doing an update demo) Anyway were doing it on Pro Tools LE, and were thinking of purchacing it for the band. What do you guys think of it? So far its' been really easy and actually fun to work with. Anyway tell me what you think?
I'm not that familiar with ProTools LE. If you like it, fine, then it's the right program for you. But I think with ProTools you're too dependent on the hardware and a certain OS IMO. Protools LE doesn't work with Windows XP, which is the best Microsoft OS for audio IME. Steinberg's Cubase and Nuendo are more compatible and the list of available plugins and VST instruments is virtually endless.
I've worked with PT LE alot and it's a great package for the money. The RTAS plugins are pretty good and there are more and more companies releasing RTAS versions. Of course you should probably get either the Digi 001 setup or the Toolbox. You'll get higher quality I/O than you would with your computer's built in sound card. It is a very easy program to learn and I believe it's completely compatible with full blown PT systems. Jon
