    Hi guys...

I have a Tune 4-string fretless that I love. It's got passive tune p/j pickups with an active 9v preamp. Here's my problem:

Everything works fine on the p pickup. When I roll the blender back to the J, I get crunchy static noise (even when not playing) and a big volume drop. It gets worse when I boost the treble.

It's not just single coil noise -- it hasn't always done this, and the volume drop is dramatic. The bridge pup is basically useless right now. What's going on?

I swapped batteries just in case and it didn't change anything.

Grrr... I have a gig tonight. Looks like it'll be p-bass tones all night...

I can't say for sure, but it sounds like one of the connections in your preamp might have come lose, or something might not have been properly connected. I would either take a look if you know what you are doing, or get some one who does to look for you. Of course, I could be wrong.
