i find it that often when i am holding something (in either hand) and then go to straighten my arm out (while still holding the object) my elbow stiffens up and will not straighten out, and if i force it, it makes a pop sound and gives a little bit of pain (that is very short lasted)...

but i found that if i release the object, my elbow will be able to straighten out as normal

    so what could this be?

is there anyway to help/prevent it?

I have this exact problem and it worries me sometimes :\ But my elbow makes a crackly stiff noise and only sometimes pops.

Does it do the same thing when you reverse the process?
