Hi everybody. This is a problem I've had for some time but I've always had a solution since I don't work on "professional" recording, but now it's really bugging me. It's simply a constant crackle on the right channel when recording. Since most of the times I just record my bass alone for my YouTube videos, for instance, I just copy the left channel and overwrite the right channel with that info. But now that I need to send by e-mail a MIDI file in mp3 format which has lots of stereo separation, I can't do that. Does anybody have a clue about what may be the cause of that crackling and how to fix it? I have the latest drivers for my card, BTW. Here's a 10-second sample for you to hear the problem (No sound. Just an empty waveform with lots of crackle on the right channel). Thank you in advance!
well, i am not creative tech support, but i will try..... first, what software are you using to record with? secondly, what sample rate are you using in that software? IIRC, all SB-type cards default to 48k, which causes problems with 44.1k. many many people recommend against using SB cards for any serious recording. i would try recording in 48k and see what it does for the crackle. if that doesnt help, then you probably *would* do better at the creative forum, or somewhere like homerecording.com. good luck.
