problem with strings

    hi
    i have just put the e string of the ernie ball super slinky 2834 on my bass but i have cut it a bit short im only getting
    3/4 of a wind is this bad what should i do

    If you already cut it there isn't much you can do other than get a new string(s).

    It's certainly not optimal. If it holds tuning then you should be fine. If not, there's your problem.

    BTW: Punctuation. It's good.

    depends on what post/bass you have, but one of the issues, even if it is holding tuning is that there may not be enough break angle from the nut to the post with no wraps to wind it down ... if you have the 'concave' type of tuner post, you can wrap a zip tie around the middle, snip it close (so you dont really see it) and wind below it ... again, not optimal, but if you are in a pinch it will work ..

    ... or just get a new string as mentioned and give the one you have to somebody on here with a short or medium scale bass
