I recently got a sweet deal on a hagstrom super swede and ive been playing it for a week or two and am completely satisfied with the feel of the guitar and just about everything else except.......

on the back... there appears to be a seam that was taped over and then painted over and you can't see it unless you look for it but i spent a lot of money on it and i'd like it to be perfect... i worry that as the wood or paint gets older that it might crack here as well... is this worth dealing with guitar center and the 3 weeks it will take me to get it exchanged since im dealing with guitar center.com because the stores dont stock them?

when i sit the guitar in my lap the seem appears to run from the base of the guitar toward the neck parallel with the top edge of the neck... as if it were a neck through guitar but it is not...its what ever a les paul would be i guess... and the seam appears to be about 5-6 inches long but stops about behind the bridge...doesnt make it all the way to the neck... does anyone know if these bodies are made of one piece? the blemish is enough to be able to feel it with your finger tip

If its new and you can feel the seem id return it. Without pictures I couldnt say one way or the other. Thats a sick guitar. Id get exactly what you wanted. If it has a blemish it goes back.

what do you think theyll do with this one... i cant send it back if theyre gonna toss it in the chipper haha but if theyll sell it as blemished i can live with that i guess

and as for pictures the only digital camera i own is in my cell phone and the guitar is black itll never come out... unfortunately the digital camera is at the top of my christmas list haha thatll be slightly late though

i had an issue, though the guitar was used, with a gibson SG i bought. It had what I thought was a crack. It was actually the guitar checking from age. I took it to a good guitar tech and he put my worries at ease. I mean they might put it in a wood chipper, but if theres a problem with it wouldnt you rather have them do this then sell it to someone else? The super swede is way too cool of a guitar to be unhappy with anything about it.

I realize this thread is over three years old, but I figured I'd chime in anyway. I bought a Swede and a Super Swede and they're both, more or less, amazing guitars. They sound fantastic, they are harmonically outstanding and they look beautiful ... but the fret jobs on each guitar were horrendous. Many of the crowns did not even touch the fingerboard.

Hagstrom's customer service, though, provided by US Music Corp., apparently, is amazing. They honored the warranty on my Swede and sent me back a (mostly) ship-shape guitar (there is one fret that looks like it got chewed a little bit, but all the crowns are touching the fingerboard, now). I'm on the verge of sending my Super Swede for the same treatment.

It's a shame that problems with their guitars seem pretty commonplace because, if they could get it so they were spot-on off the line, they could rival any big brand. I'd be happy to be their quality control guy for the right price!
