Two days ago, I bought a set of D'Addario Bass Strings, and strung them on my bass. My top E string just snapped... no reason, just normal play the thing just snapped (It broke at the bridge).

same thing happened to me. I had them on my bass for about 2 weeks and the string broke at the saddle. The bass is a spector and the saddles couldn't be smoother, i think d'addario's quality control is going to dog poo. I bought just a new e string and it cost me like $8. I'd stay away from that company in the future.

Call or write D'Addario and see if they could do something for you.Ive heard their customer service is excellent.

Btw,Ive been using D'Addario's for several years now and have never broken a string.

Mike N is right, D'addario has excellent customer service. Contact them and send them the defective string if possible.

  5. Well, the same happened to me ...
They're abit cheaper then the rest, but I won't buy them again ....

  6. You can get a bad string from virtually any company. D'Addario has one of the best customer service departments I've ever run into. If you contact them, send them the defective string, they will replace it. I sent them a defective "E" and "B" string out of a 5-string set of Chrome flats. They sent me a whole new set of strings which have worked beautifully.

Don't dump them until you give them a chance.

  7. I must admit you're right ... It could have happened with strings from any company ... I played them awhile now and they sure sound killer ! Maybe I should try to send them that string too ... but I live in Belgium ... should that be a problem you think ?

I have used XL nickels with great success. I don't think there is a problem with the company. My only beef with D'Addario is that that they die faster than some othes that I have used.

Holy jeez! That happened to me one time too! I thought it was from detuning and retuning all the time! I had to buy a single string to replace it. Since then, I don't buy their sh*t strings anymore. Now I buy Fender's sh*t strings. :D

EDIT: Oops! Mine broke at the nut. Maybe it was from detuning and retuning...
