  1. Does anyone know the settings he used on his Rat for "Breed"?

Did he use a proco rat pedal? I thought he used a boss fuzz (both very 'gutary' pedals)
  3. He most definatly used a Rat. It was the only effects pedal he ever used, and he used it on Breed, Endless Nameless, Turnaround, and the only time he used it live was for Floyd the Barber at the 10/31/91 show. I have a FZ-3 and a RAT2, and the Rat does not take away much low end at all. Just mess around with the Filter knob. I would have to agree that the FZ-3 is a guitar pedal. Too bad I bought it for bass. I guess I should have checked out that ODB-3 first...

He used a ProCo everywhere: live at Reading you can hear him changing from clean to distorted when they are warming up; live at Paramount you can see it when they are smashing up gear; live and loud you can see it and on the muddy banks of the Wishkah you can here it on most tracks. As for your question I think he had the distortion and filter at about 11 o clock; I don't know about the volume...
