I've just recently acquired a paint-stripped Precision bass body. Rather than the DIY approach,
I'm thinking of having it professionally painted so it'll look good and last....then it occurs to me that
I don't have a clue who does this or does a good
    job. Recommendations from the crowd?

The BEST would be Pat Wilkins. He handles most of the paint jobs for "parts bass" guys like Lull, Lakland, Sadowsky, etc. Think he also does all of the PRS colors as well, but don't quote me...check out the web site to see the details. Also, you might want to check out the guys who handle the paint jobs for USA Custom Guitars. Don't know about them, but they probably do a nice job, too.
