I still need a programmable filter pedal. Ideally it will do both low pass and band pass but that's not a deal breaker. It needs a good envelope follower, exp control of cutoff would be a plus, LFO would be nice if it's got tap tempo or can sync to MIDI clock. I tried the Manta, didn't work for me, couldn't dial in the sounds I wanted, tried the Wahoo, sounded like tone suck all the time, tried the Octavius Squeezer and loved the sounds it made but it was a bit of a black box I guess, no exp pedal control, changing programs, tapping tempo and using the MOD function was too difficult live with just two footswitches. Is there anything else I could try?
Maybe some multi-fx? I like the filter on my Mobius. I'd love to see a bass player with one of these: {}
Not a pedal though... Plenty of rack unit options like the Filter Factory if you're not restricted to pedals!
I've thought about it but I have enough gear to lug without adding a rack. And our rehearsal space is up three flights of stairs...
AdrenaLinn III Have you checked out the AdrenaLinn III really cool filter effects that can be controlled by a midi controller.
The Adrenalinn has been recommended to me before but it looked a bit too guitar-oriented for me, I'll have another look though. The BEF Pro while it might sound different to the Manta I don't think would offer me enough options really. I don't know, might be worth trying out if I find one in a store.
I have not noticed any more than using my Zoom pedals. FWIW there are some really good models of bass amps and the effects all sound quite good on bass. I have also used it as a plug in effect for other instruments like keyboard and sax with really good results.
I had a scan through the manual and the variety of modulation options for the filter has got me interested, I'll need a Softstep or something to really use it live but that will come in handy for my H9 and my Future Impact too so may be worth doing anyway.
I was looking at that yesterday but I'd need a MIDI to CV converter to get the most out of it. Cool pedal though.
This might be a good option for that: http://www.sourceaudio.net/products/toolblox/reflex_universal_exp_controller.php
I too am looking for a good midi controlled filter. Tempted to get the manta but feel like I should hold off until SA release a one series filter
You will probably be waiting a while then. While SA will most likely update all of the SB2 series into the 1series product format, it is unlikely the Manta is near the top of that list. The Manta/Stingray filters were the last ones released in the SB2 series and so are still relatively newish.
The Manta really disappointed me. The whole biz wth the hub and stuff I thought would solve loads of issues I always have but I just couldn't get any sounds I liked out of the pedal.
