    Hi all,

This is my first post on the TB Forum and this is my first custom Bass. This forum has been an amazing resource. Many of the opinions here have helped me with this difficult process.

It's funny; the wait hasn't been so bad and Chris has been as great as everyone says he is.

Thank you all for being here and I hope 2005 treats you well.

Not sure if you mean mine or no but here they are:

Single-cut 8 string bass similar to the Mark Roberts bass.
    Neck through construction
    Purpleheart / maple neck
    34" scale
9mm spacing cen. to cen. @ nut
    17mm spacing @ bridge
    Black hardware
    Ash body
    Individual string saddles
    Aero pickups
    24 frets
    Wenge fretboard, no inlay
    Hipshot Ultralite tuners
    matte finish
    Passive electronics

Chris and I are still talking top woods.. I'd love to find some chestnut or light buckeye a-la Fodera.. It'll also have a matching headstock cap.

Thanks for the welcome. I pulled the trigger on this bass in mid September. I think I'd have it now but the pick-ups are still in transit.

Yeah I dropped my deposit in September as well but Chris and I have had a rough time finding "the" top. I really don't know if he's even started cutting wood on it yet..

    :(

  9. Nice, Mark!

Unity bass can feel free to answer this question as well.

    Mine go like this:

    Body: Walnut-Spanish Cedar-Walnut
    Neck: Birdseye Maple-Wenge-Bubinga
    Fingerboard: Macassar Ebony
Pick-ups: 2 Aero coil tapped series humbuckers
    Pre: Bart 3-band
    Bridge: Hipshot type "A"

34" 4 string with Jazz profile neck
I went with vol-vol instead of vol-blend and chose all black hardware and Ebony knobs

We discussed dozens of options. Chris has been really cool.

  12. Very cool.

I'm glad to hear from a Stambaugh owner! Have you got any pics? Specs? Reviews?

The Aero pick-ups are a pair of humbuckers with a switch that makes each a single coil. The Bart pre has a mid freq switch and push-pull active passive.

Any other Stambaugh owners out there?

singlecut 4 string, ash body, cocobolo top and headstock cap, 3 pc. wenge/maple/wenge neck, Rosewood fretboard, Sperzel tuners, Lane Poore pickups, Bart pre.

Heres a pic from his site.

That bass is absolutely gorgeous! That Cocobolo top makes me jealous. (I nearly went with Cocobolo myself.)

    Thanks for the pic Henry.

    Any other Stambaughs out there?

Thanks! I am happy with the top I got.
To me, the grain pattern sort of looks like a fire.
I can't wait to see it up close!
