For those that might be considering replacing your jazz bass neck, I've completed my project.

I replaced a stock rosewood fretboard neck (stripped truss rod) with a one-piece maple neck for less than $150.

I bought a "licensed by Fender" jazz neck by Mightymite for $99 from Victor Litz music, a set of Ping vintage Fender-style tuning keys, Behlens nitrocellulose-based high gloss lacquer, and a few other items. Total cost less than $140.

you can see some of the end result in my avatar; it's the jazz bass.

I'm no luthier, but it came out pretty nice and sounds GREAT. As soon as I tried it out, I could hear that "maple neck sound". You gotta love it.
