I have recently heard some very strange pronunciations of this amp and wondered what the general concensus was amongst you guys. I say it like the word Epiphany (a realization or comprehension of the essence or meaning of something used in original sense or in philosophy), but thought some of the bassists I have been talking to know something I don't. I know it's a guy's name, so I could very well be wrong.
Bishop, though I am not positive, I would believe you would be correct in that is pronounced as the word epiphany. As in eh-PI-fah-nee.
This is how they pronounced it when I was on the phone with them two minutes ago, so I'd trust their judgement
Then I guess it's settled. I think that's how I've heard it pronounced that has made me go, "Huh what?"
Ampeg. AHM peg, Ammmpick, Ammpegosan, Anpegg....It just goes on. Aguilar. Agg u lah, Ag we lar, AGG guh lar, Agg Goo lahr. Next week. SWR.
I always pronounced it eh-PEE-fah-nee. Edit: Didn't notice that Bottom Feeder said that already, so +1 to his post.
It was a major epiphany for me when i realized how light my 310UL is, and how easy it would be to load in and out of gigs...
I didn't realize it was (or could be) someone's name. I just thought it was a phonetic spelling of "epiphany."
I remember there was a thread from a few years ago that was nothing but people talking about how to pronounce gear manufactuers' names.
