Continuing my last thread on how to not sound stupid:

    Fodera-

    1) foe-dair-ah
    2) fodder-ah
    3) foe-derra
    4) fo-dear-ah

    Discuss.

Number 1 is probably the most popular, but I don't know if it's correct.

    EDIT:
    Here's an official Fodera video...

At about 1:46, the guy says Foe-dair-ah.

    Awesome, thanks DomDec!

That's how I have always pronounced it.
And also, a great video too!

I pronounce it Fa-dair-ah with the "o" making a sort of soft "a" sound.

    YAY! :hyper:

    Glad this is finally settled!

Now I can get back to wondering which pickguard for polka.

I e-mailed them; and this was their reply:

    Dear Sir:

Thank you for your interest in Fodera Basses. We feel we offer the highest level of craftsmanship on the market today.
    As to your question :

The correct pronunciation, phonetically, in English is as follows:

FFuhh---Ffuhhh---Fhu-fhu-fhu-fhu-fffff- OOOO how DARE 'YA- then silently and discreetly:
    ("I drive Lamborghinis")

    Sincerely,
    [IMG]

    NOTE: This is a joke
    Jk.

that's funny. I've always said Foe-dair-ah, cause that's how i first heard Wooten say it. However, I visit the shop all the time, and I've heard both Vinny and Joey say Fa-derra. However, they're Italian Brooklyn boys and I think that's their accents jumping in :)

Hmm...and once again, a simple, honest question gets met with ridicule and scorn.

Well done, TBers, way to promote our "community".

I'm confused. Where did anybody ridicule and scorn you?

Yes, Classic69, you ended your post with j/k, just kidding, but was it really necessary? Made me feel small for asking.

And stick player having a happy dance about going back to his pickguard for polka?

C'mon, if I cannot give helpful advice, I don't answer.

Hell yeah! Pretty sure the TB'ers from the Lone Star State would give them a Texas-sized welcome as well!

Huh, that's peculiar. I thought that all Texas bass players worshiped at the shrines of Dusty Hill & Tommy Shannon, and would play nothing but vintage P basses. At least that's what we all think up here in New Yawk! ;)

My "jk"Had NOTHING to do with you, nor was there even the slightest intent of belittling you.
It was a disconnect from the Original "serious" post with a vague reference to another thread where some folks seemed to think that Vinny & Company overcharged & drove exotic cars, etc.

I myself can and often do get riled at replies to my posts that I think are stoopid, so a thick skin can be a good thing when needed.
    Here-It really wasn't!

TX has seriously, one of the Greatest builders EVER, in Alpine:
    http://www.stevensguitars.com/news/

Check out his instruments; the SLANT 4-5 and the 6 Bass-an original design for Roscoe Beck and the namesake instrument from Fender.

Michael was the O.G. for FCS; his work is admired and sought after all over the World.

    I have a Slant 4; it's a great bass; a Master build.

Texas is a BIG state; there would be room for the Brooklynites if they wanted to come out West!
