Pros and Cons of 36" scale

  1. Hi Mike,
It resembles a Fodera but it's built by Benbensee. His stuff is unique. Sort of bohemian trippy arty design with very creative body carving for upper fret reach, etc. Amazing body tops. Lots of burls, etc.
The 36 is supposedly spoken for but the money hasn't shown up yet so I'm next in line if I'm interested. (Having small hands I am SCARED of the 36's lst 5 fret positions but seeing as I'd like it for future soloing, the comments about having more room between the frets above the 12th fret IS appealing...) Like I said, if I have any brains I'll follow my instincts and order a 32"er. I've even inquired about having interchangable fingerboards (fretless /fretted) but haven't heard back if that's possible yet.

There was a company called Novatone (?) in the '80's that made magnetic boards that you could slide out from under the strings (for Fender necks.) Anybody know what happened to that idea?
