    Hi guys -

I just wanted to share a video I took of my son playing bass with a drummer at Guitar Center tonight. He's been playing a little over two years now. I think he's getting pretty good.

Hope you guys like it and thanks for checking it out.

Thanks PsychoG. Was fun to watch it unfold out of nowhere.

  4. Damn, I've been playing for nearly 8 years and can't slap to save myself. Kid definitely has talent.

The restraint and space he's leaving, that's a very mature kind of playing. I know adults playing for way longer that still don't get that.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. He practices a lot and listens to a ton of music. He's very much influenced by some of the greats (Marcus Miller, Alphonso Johnson, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, etc.).

That was very cool. It is awesome to see younger musicians improvising well. Very solid and tasteful grooving. I hope my 2 sons get into playing music. I'm secretly praying for at least one drummer:bag:

That's just awesome. Great sense of timing for a 12 year old and as mentioned, knowing when not to play. I wish that I had videos of myself playing at a younger age and he'll have that for a lifetime. Proud papa indeed. Not too shabby of a drummer I might add.

Yeah, that drummer rips for sure. He was a super cool guy. I wish Aidan could play with him every day. Thanks for all of the nice comments. Talkbass rules.

  10. Exactly: what struck me first & foremost wasn't the solo (although that was quite good as well ;) ) but his ear, how he played with & around the drummer whenever it was called for. As I stated there, that's something I pride myself for having a decent talent for, but sure as h*ll didn't at 12 for cripes sake! :spit: :smug:

You guys are too kind. I really think this is what he's gonna do. I never have to tell him to practice. He just loves to play.

I just wanted to add another short video of Aidan playing the beginning of 43 by Level 42. He figured out the entire song by ear. I only recorded the first 1:30 because the song is just too long.

    Way cool!

Looking forward to my little boys getting their hands on real musical instruments when they are out of nappies.
