Does anybody know how can I calculate the exact place where the P's pickup is installed? According to Bartolini's site the J's bridge pu "is placed @ 1/16th of the open scale length away from the intonation point of the ideal string". But they don't mention the P's "sweet spot"

  2. I have measured a large number of P basses, and find the distance to be 11.0" from the 12th fret to the center of the pole pieces on the E-A strings. This is strictly followed in MIM and MIA P-basses, P/J, and Deluxe P.

Do you know a web site that shows these distances (Jazz, Precisions, MMs...) or where to put a pickup to get a certain sound?

  4. No.

I've been collecting the measurements with a tape measure.
