well, the combination of my remembering how much better I like the high end of a bass coming out of 12" & 15" drivers AND the fact that my 'portable solution' has become the lugging of a 100lbs head AND 140lbs of smaller cabinets has sent me cabinet shopping :help:

I'm expecting a MO from TBer dominic54321 for my 1212R (to add to his 410R)... so just now I pulled the trigger on a replacement :hyper:

    My Needs/Wants:
    1.) large single cabinet solution
    2.) ported
    3.) 12" drivers
    4.) no horn / tweeter
5.) no carpet (being an ex smoker... carpeted cabs are gross after a bar gig!!!)

    Here is what I ordered...

    SWR 12-Stack (4x12)

    Anyone use one of these?
    Anyone looking for one?

$450 shipped is the going close out price!

    Huh...interesting.
I never liked SWR 410's much. I like my Henry 8x8 lots.
You've pushed my curious button, lemme know how it works out?
    Dimensions and weight? Specs?

    thanks, alan

I believe that's part of their 'vintage' line-up... similar in logic to the Bergantino NV line.... no tweeters, old school sort of sound.

Looks like a great 'rock' cab.... probably would sound awesome with a PBass and flats!

I played through the 212 version (by the way, SWR doesn't make these any longer....too bad). The 212 I played was unreal, really. If I had extra cash than I'd own one in an instant. I played my BN6 through it and was utterly impressed. No need for a tweeter in these cabs. I personally think that they're the best cabs SWR ever made.

    Power Handling: 800 watts RMS
    Impedance: 8 Ohms
Speaker Complement: Four custom 12-inch SWR drivers
Heavy-Duty Inset Metal Handles, Front Slot Port,

actually the line predates the NV stuff and yes... it was released because a lot of us bassist don't need horns! I like a tone a bright as the next guy but give it to me out of a regular driver!!

In the Item Info from the American Musical link that James provided, under the heading "From the SWR 12 Stack Owner's Manual", the cab is referred to as the "12-Pack and not the 12-Stack. That must be a little Freudian Slip! :D

Anyway, that looks like a rockin' cab! :bassist:

Let us know. I always thought that that would be a nice cabinet. The whole "new vintage" idea is cool, and I wish SWR and Bergantino hadn't dropped it. Maybe someone else will pick it up (or, call LDS and have them do it for you, like my great cab...).

:smug: yeah, that kinda suits me... my basses scream 'new vintage" as well.

LDS is on my short list of cabs to try... I don't know that this SWR cab will be 'it', the deal was too good to sit on though. If I'm hunting again, I may have to order a funky "new vintage" cab from LDS.

Nice! I got hit with tax so it was $469 but still a stupid crazy deal! The 2x12 I tried was another "sounds lots bigger than it looks" cab.

If I wasn't saving every spare penny for a new head I'd be all over one of these things. Hopefully they still have them after I get my new head. I'd love to set this under my D410-T with a big ole tube head on top of both.
