Pulling stain out of wood

Discussion in 'Luthier's Corner' started by blipndub, Mar 4, 2005.

  1. I'm doing a refinish job on a body that was painted over with some oil based finish i guess, it's sunk deep into the wood so that sanding isn't bringing it out. Are there are prodcts that pull out stain?

There are bleaches that are used on wood - oxalic acid IIRC - not sure whether it would work on the remaining finish that's soaked in, or if it only works on bare wood.
