Anyone who knows if it's possible to buy those pups as replacement to another bass?

No it is not, Bill Lawrence designed them for Fender, and Fender hold all right to them, and will not sell them seperatly.

I just used some in a bass I built. I ordered them from fender, but apparently they are nearly out and need to make another batch. One of them had grounded poles, the other one I had to modify to ground the poles.

Yep, and they are pretty cheap ($70 ea.), and sound fabulous. I mainly use them as 2 different J combinations. Be aware the coils are placed for fronts as a pair or backs as a pair, not inners/outers like Nordstrands. So the difference between the two combos is fairly subtle.

Not at all! Another killer sound is both in parallel with the neck rolled off a little. It has a good punch but not harsh.

Are they readily avalable, or do they just come up every now and then?

I don't know, maybe I just got lucky. I found the part #s (on fenders web site) and asked the local shop to order them. They came in a week later. The shop thought they were wrong (thought they were 5 string) which you will understand if you have seen them!

I know how that came up! :D

I might ask my local shop can the get them, they surely can, if they're Fender dealers.
