Putting a P Pickup in a Sterling HS

    Personally I wouldn't bother if it won't fit in the route. With all the J's that have been made, if you can't find a J you like then good luck otherwise. Another consideration is the pole spacing - not as far a strings lining up with poles but to the degree the perimeter strings fall outside the poles is the degree to which they won't read the strings.

    Dang, I really wish I could find a bass with the kind of options where I could have the humbuckers and a Precision pickup. Is there any bass that has these?

    FWIW:

    essentially any PJ bass - since you can put a J stack/split coil in it. Seems the Fender deluxe P has a side-by-side HB bridge pup: there's probably a number of basses that do so.
