Question about 80s MIJ Fender Potentiometers

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by andreiscv, Mar 11, 2014.

  1. I recently picked up a Fender 84-87 E series Precision bass. Plays nice and sounds great. I looked it over and wondered if the pots are original on it. The only marking on it is "M250k(ohm)A" and under that "75 K".

There are no other markings on it. What pots did they use on these basses? Couldn't find much online about the Japanese stuff.

Oh and do these lose much value if pots are unoriginal?

    Thanks

The stock pots on mine ('86) were both 250K. Yours are probably original, but if they're not, it shouldn't affect the value appreciably.
