question about a rack case

  1. I'm looking at skb roto-molded x-cases. I'm wondering if my power amp would fit in one of these. The case measures 10-1/2" deep, the amp is 10" deep...would that be a little tight? I think the only problem would be that I would have to unplug the cables so that the back panel will close...which isn't a big deal. The price is good on these, and they look cool... the back panel kinda sucks but I can deal with that. Anyone using these for power amps?

Thay have no back rails, which might be a problem with a heavy power amp. I prefer to use the back rails on my regular SKB.

I've heard some horror stories about that back panel popping loose when being carried around. Plugging and unplugging the cables every time would be a real pain if you play frequently, IMO.

There's another company like SKB called Gator Cases which are essentially the same, but cheaper. I'd personally stay away from the SKB roto cases for power amps. Effects and such fine, but heavy power amps not the best idea.

  3. Thanks for the info, I forgot about Gator cases. I checked them out before replying, they'll probably work best for me. I might go with one of their shallow racks. Thanks again.
