Greetings Players!! I just got my Squier Jazz V active 5 string bass and had it set up professionally, and was wondering why this particular bass seems to play as well if not better really than my other basses. I have a Stingray 4, MIA Jazz V Deluxe, Peavey Cirrus 5, and a Squier Precision Special 5 string(which plays awesome), and I am so impressed with both the Squier Basses, that I'm tempted to make those two my main 2 axes (yikes). The same luthier set up all of them so I know the setup is consistent, low action, new strings, etc. I can appreciate all the boutique features that some basses have such as wood, pickups, name, etc, but I always was someone that concentrated more on my technique and approach to playing more so than what I'm actually playing. I've had more people come up and ask if I was playing some sort of high end MTD, Alembic, or other type of bass, and with pride I can now say that I left my other basses home and went out on a cheap date.. Does anyone else feel that way sometimes.
I agree man. I play a squier affinity p-bass (gasp!) and I love it. It works perfectly for me. I'd rather pay $180 for something I can tinker with and make my own without any fear than pay $$$$ for a bass that I'm afraid to take out of the house.
That's what I'm talking about man. It's a good feeling to know that if you knock it over at a gig, you won't pass out. Did you mod yours in any way??
