Question about Fender CS60s jazz pickups

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by wshines1892, Apr 22, 2010.

  1. I got the set of Fender jazz pickups I ordered today, but the foam they came with to put under them appears to be attatched to some sort of brass strip. I'm not sure if this is for the purposes of shielding, or just holding the pickup in the cover? Also, was I correct in assuming that I should ground them to the volume pot of the pickup that they're under? Sorry if this seems noobish, but I've just never run into this before.

I've seen the pup ground wire soldered to the plate, with a ground wire from the plate and pup hot wire going to the volume knob. The ground wire should be soldered to the back of the pot.
