Hi there, I've posted a lot about my amp problems, but I consistently have a problem now with my PB500. It never goes past say 8 or 9 o'clock, plus my settings are pretty flat with a touch of compression. After 3 weeks of not playing with this rig and fixing it I thought it would be ok. Well it lasted 45 minutes and I think the problem is a fuse that gets shaken out. When my amp shut off before I think it was the power protection going on as the low end was shaking the fuse. Is there a way to fix this problem? Anyways I need to use this head and 115 cab for a while before I can afford something better (Recommended B1500, but like the little mark II for tone/size/power could be good with an Avatar 212?) -Guess I asked two questions
Sounds like your fuse holder either simply needs to be tightened up or possibly replaced. There's several diferent types of fuse holders, give us a brief description of yours.
I don't really know anything about it, my buddy said I should bring it in to where he works and he could solder it (the fuse) so it wouldn't shake. My whole deal is I want to know how to replace the fuses and make sure that they are secure. Does anyone have a PB500 who could explain what it looks like? I haven't even looked inside mine...my friend was the one who replaced the fuse.
If your fuse is located somewhere inside the amp, I'd expect its fuse holder to be similar to this: http://www.keyelco.com/products/specs/spec93.asp When the clips in this style of fuse holder get loose and wont hold the fuse securely, each of the two clips that grasp each end of the fuse typically just need to be squeezed or slightly bent inward to hold more tension against the fuse. (no big deal)
