question about mesa 400 connections

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by kidvsking, Apr 18, 2003.

  1. i got a mesa 400 and im kind of confused about the connections on the back. it has 2 out jacks labeled 4 ohm output, and 2 labeled 8 ohm output. if i am running it with 2 8 ohm cabinets, which set of jacks do i use? the 8 ohm ones, assuming thats 8 ohms each, or the 4 ohm ones, assuming its 4 ohms combined load? can any mesa 400 or 400+ users help me out?

with two 8 ohm cabinets you would plug them into the 4 ohm jacks because the combined impedence of the two cabinets is 4 ohms. i've got a mesa d180 and this confused me for a while too.

The mesa 400 outputs are combined load. So your two 8 ohm cabinets should each be connected to the 4 ohm output.

User manuals are available on the Mesa/Boogie site. Most or all of the manual for the 400+ should apply.
  4. ok, cool, that makes sense. thanks alot guys
