Question about mounting Jazz Pickups

I'm in the middle of building a Jazz bass.

    I've never owned a Jazz Bass; I have a couple of P's.

    My question is:

When I mount the pickups, should I mount the pups at an angle, so that the E side is lower in the body than the G side?

You should mount them so that they are level, then when you have the bass strung up and ready to play, adjust them to even out the string volumes.

Mount them level at first, and you can adjust them to suit your taste- or you can check out Fender's pup height specs over on Fender's site. I always adjusted mine by ear and it turns out they are basically set to Fender specs anyway. :) I believe Fender specs the pups to be 1/32" lower on the E side but I could be remembering wrong. Either way it's worth checking out what they say.
