Question about partial shielding

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by rabid_granny, May 1, 2002.

  1. Assume you had a single-coil pickup and a clear pickguard. If you were using aluminum foil to shield the cavity but not the pickguard, would it have any effect?

besides looking goofy because your clear picguard is showing shielding and wires? nope... no real effect... i imagine that shielding the cavity would be better than not shielding anything, but still not as good as doing the whole inside.

Even if the cavity was properly shielded, you'd still get some noise in the signal path from the single coil pickup. That's just the way they are.
