I have been attempting to read as much as possible in an attempt to find out all I can...I just have one question that I have left unanswered... If I put...say a speaker that is capable (according to Carvin) of handling 600W into a cab that will only be receiving 250W...is that bad??? According to all I could find, the specs are exactly what I need for the cab (size, ports, etc)...except for the wattage...will NOT pushing the speaker close to its limits result in bad performance??? Sorry if that doesn't make sense...I don't know how else to say it....Thanks in advance.
Only if the driver runs out of xmax at less than 250 watts, which, BTW, most 15s will. The only way to know is to model the driver in a full function box program like WinISD Alpha Pro, which will tell you the maximum power the driver will take across its bandwidth.
OK...unfortunately I use MAC's so I don't think I am able to get WinISD...Here is where I found the T/S specs CARVIN SPECS the speaker I am thinking about is the PS15C-4...I read somewhere on here that it was the same as the Eminence KappaLF....only 4 ohm...I may be misinformed though...
The Carvin isn't even close. Compare xmax. The Carvin will fart out with only 25 watts input in the midbass.
If you have a newer Intel mac it is capable of running windows natively. Failing that you could run Parallels of Virtual PC. I still feel a little strange about having Intel inside this little MacBook! Kind of like blasphemy!!! Paul
