The US Bolt on is a great bass, I like it better than the neck-thru because the string spacing is wider and adjustable. I have had them all, and I think I still have one of each. The Euro is Maple(bright sounding), Euro LX is maple/Mahogany (slightly lighter, a little woodier sounding).

Either way it's a spector and you can't go wrong.

You can get a Euro of 500-700 in great shape with a case and a US Bolt anywhere from 900-1500 depending on shape/finish.

    Good luck.

Sorry to correct you dude, but LX's are Maple/Aldur w/ a walnut strip :)

I totally agree with Firk on all other accounts.

I just recently purchased a Euro neck thru 4 string, just like the one on the ebay link you posted, from a fellow Talkbasser. One word......INCREDIBLE. I absolutely love this bass and can honestly say that it's one of the best basses I've ever owned. The sound, the feel, the look....all superb. But that's just me.

You definitely can't go wrong with a Spector; espectially a nice Euro neck thru.

    Good luck!!!!

I see you've owned a sterling and now owns a stingray, how would you compare them? Actually i was looking fo a used sterling first but now wants a spector,

is there any price diff between The Euro and Euro LX?

yeah, a little cheaper. IMHO I actually like the LX better than the original Euro. mainly because of the tonal differences because of the different woods. The warmer woodier tone is perfect for me.

Well, let's see.....these 3 basses are all different, yet all very versitle. Stingray vs. Sterling.....I like the Stingray better. I like the wider neck, the bigger body and it's has a bit of a meatier tone...but that's just me. Don't get me wrong, the sterling is an excellent bass but I, personally, like the Stingray better.

As far as the Spector goes, it's a different animal than Musicmans. P/J pickup combination is a different sound than the one MM humbucker. The bass itself is totally different. The bass is lighter in weight. The neck is finished and a bit fatter than musicman. The P/J combination seems punchier to me.

Both basses are excellent. I've always loved Stingrays and Spectors. So, with my G.A.S. at full force, I'm lucky enough to own both types. And with me doing the coverband thing, I'm able to utilize the versitility of both basses. And if my cash flow allows me one day, I will be picking up a Spector 5 string (I already own a Stingray 5) to complete my family.

Any other opinions and comparisions out there?

Well, my budget is about 800$, for sure i can afford a used USA spector
but i dont wanna spend that much money because of first:

    1. I live in sweden, 200-300$ shipping + duties 25% + 3%.
    2. I dont wanna risc that much money if i would be scammed.

You can get a used Euro in really good condition for that. I think you'll have a really hard time finding a used USA bolt-on though.

I'm actually selling a Euro-4 Blue/Black for that. But it's kind of spoken for, once I actually send the person some pics of it. If he decides he doesn't want it, do you?

Oh, I looked at that one on eBay....

I'm also including 2 extra packs of black strings and a hard case.
