Found an Ampeg SVT 5 pro bass head used for $340 and comes with a 3 space amp rack case with rack tuner for an additional $45.

From the pics it looks like it's in good condition, but haven't been able to test drive it yet. Should i go for it?

Any advise for what to do when test driving a used amp/cabinet?

    Thanks!

I'd buy the 5 Pro and spend the extra money saved on a cab. I'd never dream of paying $950 for a 3 Pro and 410HLF. Both can be found for significantly cheaper. On top of that, neither the 3 Pro or HLF are my favorite offerings from Ampeg. ;)

For what it's worth, you can probably find an SVT (the tubey kind) in the $800-$900 range if you're patient and save up a wee bit extra for a cab too.

Great price for the 5-pro. Much more power and versatility than the 3, I wish I still had mine.
