Hi, I have a 60W combo with a single 12" speaker. I have a 200W head that I want to run along with the combo (from the stereo out of my effects unit).

My question is this... Should I go with a 4x10 or a 1x15?

The sounds I like are Jaco's birdland tone, Geddy, etc. I'm using a standard Jazz bass.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Another 1x12, 1x15, or 2x10 would all work well.

Speaker size has nothing to do with the final sound. I can show you muddy 4-10s, bright 1-15s, fat 2-8s, etc.

Where size DOES matter is price and weight. A raw speaker costs about the same whether it is 10" or 18", so a 4-10" will always weigh more and cost more than an equivalent 1-15".

Just go listen to every cab you can and pick the one you like best.

For that power level, I would recommend either an Aguilar GS210 or GS410.

You might want to check out Eden's D-210XST or D-410XST, as well.
