No differences, except in the grade of the figuring of the maple...which really doesn't matter, now does it? :)

I'm glad you think I'm a smart person, but I'm not sure why.:D

I'm not the Spector expert that Nino is, but I did know that the closeouts at MF had a 34" scale and less figured maple. If the bass is solid black, it doesn't matter what the wood looks like, as long as it is maple, it will sound like a Spector.

No, his name had the word death or black or something like that. I haven't seen him for a while. Maybe he was a name change.

So the b -string will be the exact same as if you'd play a 35 scale bass :)

    Nino,

You sure about that 18V active system? I've got the same one, also from musician's friend, but it's only a 9V.

    BM2K,

It's a great deal. Go for it!! The NS5CR is neck-thru just like the NS5CR-FM. The thing sustains for days.

It came stock w/9 volt. All you have to do to make EMG's 18V is add another 9V battery, which I did. :)

As you can see on the input jack, my daughter had fun w/a pen.:)

Cool! Thanks Nino, you da bomb.;)

So, what does the extra 9 volts do for the sound? Why is it better than [edit:] 18?
