I am very close to deciding which P Bass I am going to order from Ishibashi.

    I have two questions.

    1. Is there a huge difference in quality between the US pups and the standard japanese ones?

    2. I can't make up my mind between the Vintage White or the 3 Tone Burst, what are your opinions?

I can't answer #1, but as to #2, I prefer VW with tort guard & rosewood neck over SB.

    1. That's to your ear. Note that there are many folks here who prefer their SX (essex) pickups over USA Fenders. It is totally subjective.
    2. Another one that's subjective. My preference is VW

I have an early 90s MIJ 60s RI P-bass. I don't know if it sounds any different, but it sounds really good IMO ... just like a P to me.

    Mine is sunburst/tort.

I have an 86 MIJ P and was hellbent on swapping the Japanese PU with a
62 Reissue. That is until I really listened to it and decided that it sounds
really good. Really thumping, driving lows and a clear pinging high end that
bites like mad with the tone opened up. I would absolutely give the MIJ
pickup a chance, I think you might end up liking it. 3-TSB vs. white is a
coin flip for me. They both look classy with tortoise shell.

    1. if the extra cost is manageable I would opt for the US pickups. To my ears they sound better but that's me.

    2. Wow that's a tough choice. A sunburst with an all maple neck is killer...then again a vintage white with rosewood is also killer...can't miss with either one.

    Decision made,

I'm going for the japanese pickups and vintage white/rosewood.

Pics will follow, don't know how long it will take ishibashi to deliver to the uk.
