I recently installed "Steam". It sounds pretty cool, but I do not think it's working properly. I get an error message about steam not running or some bullcrap every time i try to launch cs from it.

I just want to play 16. beta!!! Help!!!

seriously dude, dont bother wasting your time, 1.6 is crap, and its a beta, i have never seen a beta with more bugs than 1.6, its slow too.

Steam just about works, generally i think its all a piece of crap, they should just leave counter-strike as it is and work on condition zero, ah well........

  4. like miccheck said, 1.6 is indeed a junker, just stick with 1.5 til Condition Zero comes out

You're running XP? Right-click on hl.exe, and in the properties for it, on the "Compatibility" tab, un-check "Run this program in compatibility mode for. . ."

its only a beta, there are bugs, apparently the bug on your computer is that the program dosent even run, dont worry, most of the people who have got steam cant run it

Try making sure the same setting is off for steam.exe as well.
