New years eve. I'm wearing a black sequin LBD (actually, with a bit of post fifty year old expansion it's a not so little black dress), and heels.
Should I play my Rickenbacker (black with white pickguard), Brubaker (white with black PG.) or throw fashion to the wind and play a natural ash Fender?
My back-up/second bass will be a red fretless jazz, that totally throws off the color scheme, but I don't have a black fretless...or I could go shopping...

I'm not a fashion conscious person, but, a Rickenbacker certainly adds a classy retro look.

  3. I would go with the Ric. I have no fashion sense, so you should wait for a reply from someone who doesn't wear socks with sandals. Good luck.

The proper answer is Oly white with tort.

  6. The Rick of course.
The Brubaker being white should not be played after Labor Day.
And Ash with heals? OMG girl. Ash should only be played with flats, and I ain't talking 'bout the strings.
But do bring out the red fretless for at least your most provocative song or two.

    Have a great gig.

Ric. Timeless, classy, and classic. Just like a nice LBD.

But there is this route as well...

    Brubaker.

The white body/black pg combo would add a little more contrast against a black outfit than a black body/white pg would.

Depends on if you want people to notice you, the bass, or the music.

  11. You want the Brubaker, you need a white accessory. I know you said that the Red Jazz is a back up but I would also use it to bring a little attitude or extra sexiness into the gig. Though the white will also be sexy and is very classy with the black dress, the red adds that little danger something. Depending on the night you may want to use it sparingly, or let it hang all night long. :wideyed:
The black Rickenbacker will disappear at a distance showing a floating white pickguard. :rollno:
And the Ash, well, in this case it will look like Ash. :bored:

The white bass will have a bigger visual impact.

Ric if you want to go upscale (which seems appropriate for NYE), or Fender if you want to go rootsie. The red is a slash of danger.

The Ric is the obvious fashion choice. You will ROCK it! We will need pictures, please.
