Question for the Yamaha BB owners ...

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by IotaNet, Dec 27, 2005.

  1. I'm curious about the Yamaha BB's with the P/J pup configuration, especially the 5-stringers, specifically how well does the neck pickup (solo'ed) nail the classic "P-Bass" tone?

I've searched the forums and found some allusions to this but no direct commentary. Everyone knows that finding a 5-string p-bass is a difficult task -- I'm wondering if the BB's are a good option.

    Thoughts?

The passive BB415 will give you a very good P-sound with slightly more treble and bass. The sound is more broadrange but with some treble rolled off you get a wonderful vintage tone.

I just got a BB614 and with a couple of eq tweaks nails the P bass tone.
