I have a question about removing carpet and replacing with Tolex ok, obviously everything that's bolted or screwed on has to be removed, and the carpet needs to be ripped off. Does the remaining glue need to be removed before the tolex is applied? or is the tolex thick enough for it not to show? If it does need to be removed, what methods have proven most effective?
Remove it all down to bare wood. Sanding is probably the best way. You need a clean surface for the new glue to adhere properly.
