What's the reason for this hole?
you put your weed in there!
Not enough space, i put the weed under the control plate
I think this question has been posed a couple of times here on the forums. But I do feel your pain when you wish to go guard-less. I think this is mostly a MIM trait with Fenders and its probably done just to piss us off.
Put your headache pills in there.
Wasn't it for the CNC machines? I also remember something similar with more holes and something about sound. Not too sure what that was though...
i just had the pick guard off on mine and was thinking about this!
i guess you could dirll a seperate hole to it and use it as a bowl for smoking......tobacco.....
Maybe they put it there in the likely event that someone would want to add a toggle switch for the pickups? That or weed.
I wish I would have gotten a picture at the time, but in NE Portland there is a huge hippie population. Anyway we were there for a street festival and there was a guy whose guitar was made into a hookah as well. It was the best hookah I have seen.
That`s something usual with the 2008 models, right ?
It holds the body in place while the CNC machine cuts the shape, routs etc.
I keep candy in there.
My MIA 2005 Jazz has the same hole.
Yes, and quiet a few years before too.
I was told a while ago that it is used to hold the body while it's being painted......I could have been misinformed, though.
Either explanation would make sense to me.
i have a fender jazz MIM and its not there on my bass...weird.
It's definatly not for painting, you can see the finish inside it.
Generally you hang 'em by a drill hole for the neck screws, or a larger hole drilled in the neck pocket, if its getting a metal plate on the back.
What year is the bass?
*DING* Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
