What is the difference between a Rick 4001 and a Rick 4001S? is the S still made?

The S doesn't have the binding around the body, and has dot inlays on the neck instead of shark tooth inlays. Pretty much the same other than that. No, they quit making them. I wish they still did. I don't like the binding.

    The differences are:
No binding on neck or body
    Mono output instead of stereo
    Dot fingerboard inlays

The 4001s also had a set neck not neck thru. Some of them had neck thru. It is kind of like dealing with a 4000. Those are actually pretty cool even with the one pickup.
  5. the set neck models were,I believe, left over 4000 models that were converted to the 4001s..later 4001s models were neck thru..the 4001s was also the template for the 4008.
