hey guys, I'm pretty new here and I have a simple question.
I want to get some kind of 4 track or studio that I can hook up to my computer and record my bass and guitar tracks. Now, I'm looking for something simple that would do the job nothing fancy and expensive.
    what should I look for?
    thank you.

If the source of the final recording is your computer are you then talking about a mixer? Or you want to put the final overdubbed version on your computer?

I just want to lets say mix my bass and guitar and then the tracks to remain on my computer instead of a tape. Would a mixer do that as well?
I don't know much about that kind of equipment.

mixers mix whatever they get as an input. you might want to check out some soft that can let you use your computer as a mixer/editer/recorder. Cool Edit Pro/2000 is pretty good, I love it. Good luck.
